Issue: The visual has unrecognized fields.

Since yesterday, we experience a caching problem with some of our customers.

The first opened report works without any issues while the next reports give the underneath error.

 

The data set is created in SSAS cubes and we use the on premise data gateway to connect.

 

Anyone else experiencing this? Did Microsoft do an update?

From the awarness-status: Customers may experience report issues due to missing measures after a dataset refresh. Engineers are currently investigating the root cause.

I checked the status page again this morning and nothing has been updated, except the next update time of 2pm PST.  This is not helpful.  We are now a week into this issue and there has been no sign of progress.  I think we all would appreciate an update that is not 'Engineers are working on it, next update will be on X date at Y time'.

I am also very eager to hear every status update!

 

Problem causes lots of frustration in the business (that relies on PowerBI dashboards) and I don't want to communicate that problem is solved until I really know for sure.

Latest update:

Customers may experience visuals fail with errors like “Unrecognized fields in this visual” for Power BI reports against On-Premise SQL Server Analysis Services models containing multi-dimensional cubes. Engineers are deploying a fix and expect it to be in all regions by 3/15/19.

 

Seems there's a fix. Unfortunately still no explanation of the main cause.

Tried several reports and problem seems te be fixed.

It looks better, but i await until next automatic update of the cubes before I say to my organisation (10.000 workers) that the problem is solved.

Asked several times for an explanation about the cause and fix, but still nothing.

Did anyone receive an RCA from Microsoft yet?

Received RCA:
“The root cause was a code change which affected how multi-dimensional models were processed which resulted in the “Unrecognized fields in this visual” error message. Engineers were alerted to this issue and, to mitigate the issue quickly, engineers disabled a feature switch which turned off the problematic code. Microsoft is implementing process changes and additional alerting to ensure this type of problem does not happen again. Microsoft sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers.”
