Is it possible to change the PBI Email subscription date format to UK?

Hi,

I have a similar issue as this post: Email subscription date format always set to US? - Microsoft Power BI Community. But I can't see the solution on this post.

I created a PBI report and published to PBI service, all my dates format are displayed in UK format: DD/MM/YYYY.

My PBI desktop set to English(New Zealand)

My browser set to English(New Zealand)

My PBI service language set to my browser language.

My Laptop also set to New Zealand time and English(NZ) as display language.

But the date format changes to US format(MM/DD/YYYY) in subscription email preview for the same report. It is really inconvent and I would love to know if this can be changed?

Display perfect in my PBI desktop and PBI service:

But changed to US format in the preview of PBI email subscription:

Can anyone help? Thanks!!

Hi @JuanW ,

this is expected behavior:

The reason is this:

  • subscriptions are executed by the Power BI service as a background job, using the owner's locale.
  • The owner locale is the one specified in the settings as one of the 44 currently supported languages: Supported languages and countries/regions for Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
  • When language=(browser default) is selected, the backend cannot use the browser value because browser may have other/different sets of supported languages. As a consequence, the backend will set the user setting to default, which is American English.

And refer the following article:

Troubleshoot subscribing to dashboards and reports - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Hi Caitlyn,

Thanks for your response. It seems there are only english - english (no differentiation between UK or US) can be selected, which I assume is US english again. Is it going to make a difference (showing in UK format) if I switch from defualt language to English - english?

Thanks so much!

One of my colleague suggested set the date to the 'short date' format without the asterisk in the data model as the asterisk chooses the system's date format (by selecting 'short date' without it might force it), the dates displayed in UK format now in the email preview!
