How to track external users for reports published to the web (public)

Hello Support, hope you guys can help with my issues.

I made some reports and publish to web publically. I want to analyze external user actions in order to make decision about Designs, Contents, Flows, Charts in the reports. So I check the Usage Metric but it only analyzes Power BI user data..

I want to collect external user data, and analyze it through visualization like Heatmap.

How do I track external users?

Please respond about this issues.

Hi @sdi_sangwoo ,

Do you mean use Usage Metric to track user activity for the report has published to web? I think the metric only include users who visit the report in Power BI Service, not those through published to web link, as we don't need to sign in when visit report published to web.

Here's an idea about it: Microsoft Idea (powerbi.com), you can vote the idea and if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

You can also consider embedded the PBI URL to a website page then track the usage, reference: track public report URL to know how many visits - Microsoft Power BI Community

I understood Usage Metric process from your answer.

Thank you @v-yanjiang-msft !!

My ultimate question is this: when I publish a dashboard report to Web Publicly, I'd like to know if there's some ways to track which pages were viewed the most by external users and which visual objects were used the most, because I'd like to validate the usability of the dashboard report in order to improve it.
