GA4 Connector Bug

I'm hitting the following error when using the GA4 connector:

Expression.Error: The field 'description' of the record wasn't found.
Details:
    apiName=customChannelGroup:XXXXXX
    uiName=YYYY
    category=Attribution

Seems to have happened after the introduction of a custom channel grouping in GA.

Status: Delivered

Hi  all,

There has been internal feedback from engineers about this issue and it will be fixed in a future release, no definite ETA at this time.

Best regards.

Resolver II

I "solved" this one by copying the M code from (desktop) Power Query and then creating a new dataflow on Power BI online and then linking back to that online source in my desktop file.

Got the idea from Ruth @ Curbal as demoed in this video here:
I hacked the Google Analytics connector to get GA4 data in Power BI !!! - YouTube

Can confirm that custom channel grouping is causing this problem.

We removed custom channel grouping and the connector started to work as intended.

Hello all, good news.

I can confirm that this error no longer persists with the Power BI desktop December 2023 version. I'm not exactly sure when the fix was deployed, but the custom channel grouping is no longer a barrier. It's so relieving that this error has been fixed.
