Formatting stuck on group, not allowing for individual visual formatting

Not sure if anyone else is experiancing this problem but with the new update my format pane seems to get get stuck on group formatting. Even when I have a single visual selected it stays on the group. When i click the formatt options box none of the options come up and it's still just stuck on the group options. It seems to correct itself randomly and I can't replicate getting it to give me the visual formatting options reliably. Closing the application and opening again corrects it for a bit, but then it could come back again. 

In the attached picture you can see this issue, with all of the options having disappeared when having a single visual selected.

Turn off On-object interaction in Options => Preview features .
