I use Dygraphs for R to plot interactive time series charts that come with a fluid range selector allowing analysts to navigate around the time series with great speed by dragging with the mouse or touch. This is based on HTML/JS output.
Time series charts with Power BI already have great drill down features (with a hierarchy) the only thing missing is a range selector.
