Direct Query refresh failures after upgrading Gateway (3000.238.11) with MonitoredDbConnectionError

Following on from this Forum post https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/ServerError-DM-GWPipeline-Gateway-MonitoredDbConne... (Please see that post for relevant logfile snippets)

After upgrading the gateway to the latest version, roughly 1/3 of all Direct Query queries are reporting error ServerError_DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MonitoredDbConnectionError in BI Service. From what I've been able to determine, it happens to all reports that use Direct Query, regardless of the direct query data source.

The only connection we can find is that all the errors are using Direct Query. Import Refreshes don't seem to experience this issue.

Additionally, this error message isn't documented anywhere that I've been able to find.

Hi,

I'm not @aaronhaviland but during a dataset refresh I get the following error

{"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MonitoredDbConnectionError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MonitoredDbConnectionError","parameters":{},"details":[]}}}

Also when a report with direct query connection is opened I get a "MonitoredDbConnectionError".

After pressing the refresh button the data is loaded correctly. It hapens sporadically and only

some of the queries are affected.

In my case it started at night cet between 7th and 8th oh October, the gateway 3000.238.11

was installed some days before.

here is what I've found in the gateway error log

4C1EF73E [DM.GatewayCore] Error processing request: [0]Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.Diagnostics.GatewayPipelineMonitoredDbConnectionException: Failed to retrieve connection: no connection with ID exists.

@v-xiaoyan-msft Sure, what additional version information do you need?

The gateway is running Gateway release 3000.238.11.

Good afternoon,

We have experienced the same issues over the last 48 hours since updating the On Premise Gateway (also 3000.238.11 September 2024).

Some guidance or bug fix would be really useful at this point having run from various DQs.
