Creating bins using time intervals with direct query creates unequally

Changing the report from direct query to import solves the problem.

Hi

 

I have created a new group (bins) on a time field into 10 minute intervals. Then created a column graph with the group as the axis and legend. Clicking on the columns slices the data as expected except for a few columns. The bins that have been created are:

 

17:00hrs

17:15hrs

17:29:59hrs

17:45hrs

17:59:59hrs

18:15hrs

 

Why have the two been created that are 1 second shorter than the others? It also stops the slicing working?

UPDATE

I have changed the report from Direct Query to Import and now the bins are equal again - Is this a bug perhaps?

Hi @Anonymous,

 

I'm not able to reproduce the issue in Power BI desktop version 2.62.5222.761 64-bit (September 2018). What's your Power BI desktop version, please update it to the same version as ours then test again.

Hi

 

I am at the latest version (see below). I notice that the data you used has exact, to the second records. Try using some data that isn't so precise. And as you can see in my screen shot, the axis labels are correct but you only see the error once you hover on the column. Also are you using DirectQuery as that seems to be when the error occurs, not using import.

Would you please share some sample data so I can try to create a table on SQL side to test it again? 

 

By the way, the Power BI desktop October version is released, you can try this new version 2.63.3272.40262.
