Bug - Log scale for line charts

I'm using a line chart and want to set both axes in log scale. It works when I only add data to Axis and Values, but once I add data to the Legend, the Y-axis can only be set to linear.

What do your data and visual like? I tried with following simple sample and I can set bot axes in log scale.

My X-axis is in the range 0-2000, while my Y-axis represents very small numbers (10-2 to 10-8).

I managed to set the scale type as Log (by entering a start value I think), but it doesn't seem to be applied to the graph. (It shows exactly the same whether I select Linear or Log scale).

In general we have experienced issues with small (decimal) scientific numbers, as you can see the automatic scaling doesn't work either.

Did you see red underline while you type 1e-7 for starting value in PBI Desktop as below? It seems that it is not supported.

Just saw it. It seems the "1e-x" is supported, as I typed 1e-6 and now the scale is in Log, however, if I go down to 1e-7, then it goes back to linear.

Not sure if “1e-x” is officially supported if there is red underline. How about the result if you type some other “1e-x” values? And if possible, could you please provide you PBIX file to me? You can upload it to online file service like OneDrive and share it to me.

Herbert

Thanks for your file. I’ve reported it internally to Power BI Team: CRI 30831767

I’ll post here once I get any update about it.

The Power BI Team are working on it. It isn’t a simple bug fix and will take a couple weeks.
