Analyze in Excel askes to sign in multiple times over and over again (from Excel Desktop App)

I have been working with Analyze in Excel for many years.

Previously after opening Excel it asked once to sign in, that's it.

About two weeks ago it started to ask to sign in every 10 seconds.

i do have one connection and multiple pivots. I think it started to ask for sign in for each pivot. please help

I think it is a bug, please help.

Hi  @iBusinessBI ,

Does clearing the local cache in Excel work for you? Have other users in your organization had similar experiences?

I tried to do a simple test but it doesn't seem to reproduce the problem, any more information would be great.

Best regards.

I have cleaned the cache now. The issue remains.

Works great in the Excel web but in the Desktop app it askes to sign in twice FOR EVERY PIVOT (although all are from the same connection).

For example if I duplicate a sheet with a pivot, it'll immediately ask me to sign in again. twice!

It never behaved like that, only last week / last couple of weeks.

Maybe the recent NFA changes (I don't see any request for MFA)

Maybe something with the license (I have PPU in Power BI and Microsoft 365 apps for Business in office)

Maybe the office license is not enough (but it always was)

I have another customer (different domain, different company) that also started to behave like this.

I have just spent 5 hours trying to solve this! Including a phone call with Customer Support.
2 things worked for me:
1. Downgrading office to Version 2407 (Build 17830.20166)
(this post: Excel - Unable to sign into data connection - Microsoft Community)
2. Removing "Catalog Rebound=True" from the connection string as proposed here https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Query/Initialization-of-data-source-failed-Excel-Pow...

So for now it works for me, but definetely something is wrong with office / analyze in excel - I don't want to downgrade office on the permanent basis
