WebView2 - Cant Read and Write to its data directory

Hello everyone,

I need some help with this error.

After updating to the December 2023 release i encountered this issue below. 

Initially it did even start PowerBI Desktop, now it opens the software but doesn`t "Get Data" with the text format and shows the error below.   

I tried reverting back to the previous PowerBI version, updating WebView2, Unistalling and Reinstalling, running as Admin and other advice i read on previous years similar issues but the problem persists. 

Any ideas are wellcome.

Hi  @ESaliaj

How did you update your Desktop ? Download package from download center or update from Microsoft Store?  You can uninstall your Power BI Desktop from the Control panel and then download the installer from Download center to install it.

@Anonymous That is how i update PBI Desktop but i still have the same problem with WebView2.

When i try running PowerBi Desktop on a PC that was not connected to the web(not updated) it works but then WebView2 updates and it shows the same problem again.

Hi  @ESaliaj 

What is the operating system of your computer? Does it qualify for Power BI Desktop installation? 

Please reinstall Webview2 by using this installation link.

Thank you for your answer.

I apologise for the late reply, i was waiting on the February 2024 release hoping that would fix it.

Unfortunatelly this remains unresolved.

When i try to install Webview2 using the link you sent i get the message below. 

I tried updating to the February 2024 version but the issue is still the same.
