We have installed the MySQL connector on the Gateway using MySQL mysql-installer-community-8.0.33.0.
In parallel we installed the Workbench to test the connection to our MySQL server: it worked.
We have rebooter the Server.
Then we went to app.powerbi.co to configure a new connection on our Gateway Cluster. But the creation of the connection fails with the following error: unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.
But we found the connector installed at :
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\MySql.Data\v4.0_8.0.33.0__c5687fc88969c44d\MySql.Data.dll
What can we do ?
(Here is the full error message:
Unable to create connection for the following reason: Unable to connect to the data source. Either the data source is inaccessible, a connection timeout occurred, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue.
