SharePoint data source bug

If a dataset uses a SharePoint data source, and if a gateway does not have it as a data source, the gateway will still be shown as "green" for the dataset, but trying to apply it will result in error 400.

If you add the required SharePoint data source to your gateway, you will be able to apply it successfully.

Hi @Daniil,

It looks like you are connecting to the SharePoint on-premise, right? which SharePoint version do you run? Do you use SharePoint list or folder connector when you get data in Power BI desktop?

When you say "the gateway will still be shown as "green" for the dataset, but trying to apply it will result in error 400", please check if it's personal mode gateway or on-premises data gateway. If it's on-premises data gateway, please update it to the latest version 3000.0.144.3 then test again.

Qiuyun Yu, thanks for your response. Yes, we are using the on-premises SharePoint -- most likely 2010. We are definitely using the latest version of the On-Premises Data Gateway (not Personal mode).

We are using the following M code to connect:

SharePoint.Files(xxxxxxxxxxxxx, [ApiVersion = 14])

Also, I have a separate SharePoint Online instance, to which I cannot connect from Power BI Desktop, nor from Power BI service: it's xxlbi-my.sharepoint.com -- it returns error 500.

Hi @Daniil,

I have configure a SharePoint 2010 site to test this issue, but unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the issue. On-premises data gateway isn't available in Dataset Setting until we add Web data source points to Sharepoint site in on-premises data gateway. I guess the issue might be related to your Power BI service cluster or environment. I would suggest you create a support ticket to Microsoft and let engineer look into your real environment.

Regrading your second question, as it's different from original issue, please post it in a separate thread and clarify the issue with detail information.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu
