Refresh Power BI Semantic Model Issue with Sign-in Account

i created a insert pivot table in excel from Power BI Semantic Model. The issue is it's asking for sign-in account every time when i open an excel and refresh a pivot table. Whenever i open an excel file and refresh the data, it's asking for it. Once you pick an account, it won't ask again till Excel close.

Hi  @thuyeinphyo93

Please check the version with your excel . You can find the info in Help . If the version is 2311 , please downgrade to 2023 and then refresh the table .

If you can successfully refresh after downgrading, then it's an issue with the version of excel, then you need to contact tech support on the relevant forum. Looking forward to your reply !

@v-yetao1-msft Thanks a lot for your suggestion. Currently, I am using the way as you suggested. Could you please suggest any other way without downgrading the version?

Finally, I found the solution to this issue.

The solution is we need to edit the connection string

  • Go to Data > Properties > Definition > Connection String.
  • Change "Provider=MSOLAP.8" to "Provider=MSOLAP.7".
  • Remove "Catalog Rebound=True;" from the connection string.
Note: It will ask for credentials only once again. Then save, close the workbook, open it back up, press refresh all
