Receiving Daily Subscription Email Without Dataset Refresh

Despite our best efforts we do not seem to be able to get emails notifying us when the automated refreshes for a dataset fail.

The account in question has no O365 email license so the email and alternate email addresses are set to an email distribution group from our actual domain tenant as opposed to this dev one.
The account shown has a BI pro license (if that matters).

As mentioned whether it is a manual or automated refresh.. still no notification.

The checkbox to enable the notification clearly set for the dataset.

So the question is whether anyone from Support is able to double check the logs to trace what notifications if any are being generated and where they are attempting to go?
Workspace is called "AlertTesting" and a specific refresh failure detail looks like:

Any help would be gratefully accepted as a couple of us have been battling this for a few days now trying variations.

This is for workspaces that are either associated to a premium (embedded) capacity or not albeit ultimately the workspaces will be from a provisioned capacity.

Apologies as well if this is the wrong location for logging this support ticket.

Kind Regards

Gareth Beaumont

Hi @Gareth_Beaumont,

I didn't find the email send record in my internal tracing tool but I'm not very sure if this should be recorded.

For your issue, I will suggest you check if the same issue happens to other dataset, check if the alternate email address can receive the refresh failure email for other datasets.

Best Regards,

Hi Qiuyun Yu, thanks for the response.

Its the very fact that you cannot see anythign in the tracing tool that worries me. Talking with Sergei G and he seemed to believe their would be logs of the failure and then emails being triggered.

Unfortunately we have have this issue with our actual dev/test workspaces as well, this example shown in the screenshot was just a clean example setup for this support ticket so the email failing to send is reproducible.

Silly question but the tenant associated with the PowerBI workspace does not need to have exchange configured/licenses in anyway I assume? The email notifications being completely independant of the tenancy exchange in other words and just relying on the owner account for an email address to attempt to send to?

Kind Regards

Gareth Beaumont.

Hi @Gareth_Beaumont,

Thanks for your update. It's hard for me to provide further support based on my current resource.

I would suggest you contact the Microsoft engineers for dedicated support
