Power Query not rendering Unicode

wcarter_0-1693584878820.png

As can be seen in the above screenshot, using certain unicode characters results in the placeholder box instead of the character or an incorrectly rendered character. In this case these characters:

🟢

🟡

🔴

🔵

They all render fine in the main Power BI interface but in the power query editor they are broken. I am on the lates August 2023 version of Power BI.

Hi @wcarter ,

I'm a little confused about your needs, Could you please explain them further? It would be good to provide a screenshot of the results you are expecting and desensitized example data.

Thank you for looking at this, there is a screenshot of the power query editor at the top of my original post, it is a bit small but it is there. In it you can see that the characters I pasted into my message, the colorful circles, do not render correctly. To reproduce:

1. Copy this symbol to the clipboard: ðŸŸ¢

2. Paste this symbol into the formula bar in Power Query:

That's it, you should see then that the symbol fails to render correctly per unicode standards: https://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U1F780.pdf

@Anonymous is there any update on this issue with Unicode support in Power Query? Thank you!
