Power Query Editor Repeatedly Losing Focus

Does anyone else have an issue where the Power Query Editor is repeatedly losing focus? It seems every few seconds the window loses focus. I could be right clicking on a query and the dialog will disappear. I could be typing M expressions in the Advanced Editor and it'll lose focus so I have to click on the editor again to resume typing.

This has been happening off and on for at least a year. I hadn't seen it in a while, but just yesterday, it started happening again. It's maddening!

@JamesDBartlett3 : Did you try the workaround I mentioned a few weeks ago, to minize the Power BI window and keep only the Power Query Editor windows on the desktop?

So not just behind the Editor, but fully minimized. For me, this "fixes" the focus problem (Although I think this isn't really a suitable fix. 😒)

@P_Allert Yes, I did try the workaround you suggested, and it does work. So does maximizing both the main Power BI window and the Power Query window. However, I don't consider either of these to be viable solutions. I use the Fancy Zones feature of Windows Power Toys to snap application windows to pre-defined areas of my monitors, specifically because I dislike having to maximize and minimize application windows all the time.

Repro here. Workaround is to right-click and then use keyboard to select items in the context menu. Clearly unacceptable. Seems like a recent regression.

Can confirm on a Windows 10 machine. This has been happening for quite some time. Sometimes it's worse sometimes it's better.

I have figured this out, and all runs smoothly for me now.

This occurs when you move the mouse over any border of any power BI window.  The very confusing part is that if you use a virtual desktop, the window may not be visible, as it is in another virtual desktop.

The solution is to not have your query editor overlap with any other power BI window.  The easiest solution for this is to use a separate monitor.  But you can also minimize Power BI as P Allert suggested, or just make sure to maximize the main Power BI window.

I got the same issue for months (Windows 10). I feel it's not related to Webview2. I have 3 screens and it happens on each of them. It happens on each report.

This is not acceptable. Microsoft built many excellent editors but this one is definitely the worse one.

Power Query window loses and gets the focus but it seems the main window doesn't get the focus. Power Query window blinks (window title, borders, shadow) while we move the cursor within Power Query window and over the main window borders.

This doesn't happen with other applications.

@v-robertq-msft , if you want to reproduce the issue, I can share my screen with you.

I can't believe this is still an issue.

@dterrienpro they probably fixed it accidentally.
