Power Bi issue with Row Level Security

We've created a dataset that has email addresses and the properties that those email address have access to.

We also have a dropdown of all properties and set it so that depending on which email address is logged in to power bi online, it will filter the dropdown and only show the properties that the email address has access to.

However it does not work, it shows all properties for everyone

Status: Investigating

Hi,

Would you like to post some screenshots of the Power BI report with this issue without the sensitive data if it’s possible and we can help you to check if it’s an existing issue in the Power BI?

I also suggest you to make sure you have updated to the latest version of the Power BI desktop.

Thank you very much!

@v-robertq-msft This is the version: Version: 2.100.1182.0 64-bit (December 2021)

So I have a dashboard that has a property dropdown with lots of properties. I also have a table called UserPermissions which has everyone's email addresses and a list of all properties that they should have access to. In Modeling, under Managthis is the security that is set up to limit the properties to the what the user has access tothis is the security that is set up to limit the properties to the what the user has access toThis is the UserPermissions table that has all email addresses and the properties that the email address has access toThis is the UserPermissions table that has all email addresses and the properties that the email address has access tothis is the properties dropdown that should only display the properties I have access tothis is the properties dropdown that should only display the properties I have access toe Roles, Property Row Level,  the table UserPermissions has a filter of [EmailAddress] = USERNAME() also tried USERPRINCIPALNAME() instead of USERNAME() but neither work.

We really just want to filer the property dropdown such that whatever properties my email address is assigned to in the UserPermissions table, only those properties should show up in the dropdown for me to select from. Any idea why this isn't working?

Hi,

Have you published the report to the Power BI service and added some users to the RLS role to make them test the slicer that really can’t work for RLS? What’s more, the test users shouldn’t have the Edit access to the dataset, which will make the RLS can’t work.

If you still have a problem, I suggest you to open a support ticket to get the direct help from the technical support team of Microsoft to have a remote session with you to help you to make sure if this is an issue existing in the Power BI.
