Power BI crashing and throwing insufficient memory error

Every time I try and open up a Power BI file it has been crashing and saying there isn't enough memory. I have 32 GB of memory and this should be plenty for opening a 320 MB file.

Status: Investigating

You can check whether the virtual memory has been delivered appropriately in control pane, see:

FIX: Power BI Memory error allocation failure

  1. Click on System and Security.
  2. Click on System.
  3. From the left pane of the System window, click on Advanced System Settings.
  4. By default, you should be in the Advanced tab.
  5. From the Advanced tab, click on the Settings button under the Performance section.
  6. Open the Advanced tab in the Performance Options window
  7. Click the Change button under Virtual Memory section
  8. Make sure Automatically manage paging file size for all drives option is checked.
  9. Click OK to save the changes.
  10. Restart the computer and check if the memory allocation failure error.

In addition, you can try to optimized your data model, see: Optimization guide for Power BI
