Power BI Service Gateway data source connection issue

Hi All,

I have an excel data source in our Power BI Gateway.  The Gateway is not able to connect to this data source, even though I can follow the file path to the file; meaning the file path is valid.  This has not been an issue with this file path before; this data source connection used to work.

What does this error message mean?  I have not seen this before.  Thanks everyone.

Hi @Anonymous,

1. Please make sure you are running the latest on-premise data gateway. 

2. Ensure the gateway server can communicate with the Excel file. 

3. Please share gateway log files(C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises Data Gateway\Gateway*.log) around the time that the issue occurs.

Yes we have the latest version of the gateway.  I have the logs but I don't see how I can attach them here?  Please advise.

we recently upgraded our gateway instance to the most recent version and are now also getting this "problem hosting the gateway engine" error.

You can send the gateway log files with me in private message. 

@missyjar Do you have the same issue as @Anonymous? If it is, also send gateway log files with me.
