PDF Export From Desktop not Exporting Full Pages

Hello,

I posted this in the help section of the community, but I believe it is a bug with the most recent update (October 2023).

I routinely export desktop PBI reports to PDF for sharing in newsletters. Today, for some reason, when I exported to PDF, only about the top left quarter of each page is exported instead of the full page.

I have attempted exporting multiple different reports, closing and re-opening Power BI, and restarting my computer to no avail. Nothing in my report has changed other than refreshing the data. Each page is the default 16:9 720x1280 size.

I was able to successfully export from a report published to the online workspace, but not desktop. A coworker was also able to successfully export from desktop with the August 2023 update.

Link to help thread with numerous others with the same issue

Any help in getting this resolved would be appreciated!

Hi everyone,

The root problem is the add-in 'Microsoft Edge Webview2' that renders the visualisations in Power BI (it must have updated to a glitchy version in a Windows update). If you update this to the latest version it fixes the exporting to pdf problem that everyone is facing in Power BI desktop.

Go to 'Add or Remove Programs' then search for Webview and click on Modify. Then select the option to 'Repair' and it will update it to the latest version. Version 118.0.2088.76 fixed it for me and my colleagues. Note that you will need admin rights to install the latest version.

@miguel_bachmann, ingenious! Worked like a charm for me on Windows 11. There, the menu is called Apps > Installed Apps:

You may also try the following steps and check if this issue can be solved.

1.Launch Power BI Desktop
Once it's running, open the Task Manager and expand Power BI Desktop:

2.Right-click on the WebView2 GPU Process and select "Properties"
3.Go to the "Details" tab and confirm the version number is >= 118.0.2088.76
If this version is higher than 118.0.2088.76, please download and try the fixed version runtime for 117.0.2045.60 here: https://msedge.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreamingservice/files/7c1ee55b-f219-4550-bdb7-08...
4.Extract the cab file using a tool like 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org/)
5.Set the environment variable WebView2FixedVersionFolder to the file path. Ex:
WebView2FixedVersionFolder
C:\users\bwayne\Downloads\Microsoft.WebView2.FixedVersionRuntime.117.0.2045.60.x64
6.Launch Power BI Desktop and confirm through the Task Manager that version 117 is being used.

Hope it helps!

Best regards.

I am facing the same issue. However have found a work around.

Create a blank page and hide it. Go to this page and then select export to PDF.

When i was selecting the Export to PDF option from a report page, it was cutting of the right part of random pages. When i did the above, it exported all the pages with the correct size. Ensure all the pages you want to export are not hidden and are fit to screen.

Let me know if this works for you.
