I have created a map with multiple groups of locations. Some groups contain the same location(s) as other groups. The data set only has City and Group. Here is a snapshot of the data set:
GROUP ID CITY
Group 21 Birmingham, AL
Group 1 Birmingham, AL
Group 3 Birmingham, AL
Group 5 Birmingham, AL
Group 9 Birmingham, AL
Group 31 Birmingham, AL
Group 34 Birmingham, AL
Group 35 Birmingham, AL
Group 37 Birmingham, AL
Group 42 Birmingham, AL
Group 5 Decatur, AL
Group 9 Decatur, AL
Group 34 Decatur, AL
Group 42 Decatur, AL
Group 1 Dothan, AL
Group 3 Dothan, AL
Group 31 Dothan, AL
Group 35 Dothan, AL
Group 37 Dothan, AL
Group 42 Dothan, AL
I have added City as the Location and Group ID as the Legend. This results in pie chart bubbles on cities with multiple groups. So far, so good. I have gone into visual properties of the legend and overridden the colors of several groups. The legend shows the new colors and when using Group ID in a slicer to limit the map display, the map bubbles match the legend in PowerBI Desktop. However, when I publish, the online version has the color change in the legend, but the bubble colors match what the default color would have been before I overrode them. The mismatch between the legend and bubble color appears to be a recent phenomenon as it did not do this when I first uploaded the map a couple of weeks ago.
To reproduce the problem, load the data above in PowerBI Desktop, drag city to create a map and use Group ID for the legend. Then, set the data color for Group 31 to one color (AA0000, for example) and Group 34 to a different color (00AA00). Next, add a slicer using Group ID along with multi-select enabled. When you click Group 31 and Group 34 in the slicer, you should a mix of green and red bubbles, with one bubble that is both green and red. Finally, publish the report and look at it on the web. When I do this, Group 31 and Group 34 still show red and green in the legend, but the bubble colors match the original default colors.
Any idea what is going on?
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Robert
