Issues with Schedule Refresh

Some of my datasets acting up today.

I have a schedule refreshes on my datasets, when the report is refreshing, it automatically started the new refresh and killed the old one with the error "The scheduled refresh is cancelled because a new refresh is detected on the same database" img 2.pngimg 1.png

Is there an issue with the service?

Hello @iW1DOV ,

I'm facing the same issue and it's the first time it've happened to me.

Do you have any idea of how to solve it? Do I have to refresh again?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

AFAIK, there is no way to solve the issue. It is a bug, Microsoft has to fix it.

You can refresh manually; usually it works. Also, you could find the dataset has been refreshed anyways; and usually the next scheduled refreh works as usual, since it is an intermittent issue, that occurs mostly on weekends, from what turns out of this thread.

We also had this error just now. Is anyone else having it in January 2025?

Hi, I also have the same issue since weeks - always on weekends, always the same semantic model (FUAM_Basic_PBI_Overview_SM). Any idea what we can do here?

I am getting this error interminably. Any ideas to fix?

I have this issue as well. I have a scheduled semantic model refresh set 2 hours after a pipeline invokes an update for a warehouse that has the semantic model attached to it. This is all happening between 4am and 6am.

I received the error today, so it's still happening in 2026. New data model, published yesterday, using a data connection that's used by most of our semantic models. New Fabric instance so peak CU usage is still under 5%, but still got the "Data source error: The scheduled refresh is cancelled because a new refresh is detected on the same database." error. It would be nice if this were addressed by Microsoft support.

Same problem here : "The scheduled refresh is cancelled because a new refresh is detected on the same database." How long did it take to be fixed when it occurred in the past ?
