Issue with Sharepoint folder connection

since Iast month, I'm experiencing an issue with getting files from SharePoint folder connection.
The scenario is the following:
  • I'm user A and upload a file into my OneDrive storage into a folder that is shared with user B
  • User B has read only access to the folder and, from One Drive page, he can see all the files in the folder and open them
  • From Power BI, connected with User A credentials (User A is the user who will publish in the Power BI Service workarea) , the SharePoint folder connector is used to browse the files in the shared folder. The connection to the SharePoint folder (which is User A's folder) is done using the credentials of User B
  • What happens is that not all the files in the shared folder are listed.

I would expect to see from Power BI all the files that I see with User B when I connect to the One Drive page from browser.

Thank you in advance

Hi @fbottazzoli

To make it more clear, I need confirm several questions with you.

  • Did you give user B read only permission to this folder by sharing this folder to him with can view permission?

  • Which level did you choose when you connecting to this data source with user B's credential?

Hi @v-cazheng-msft

First question: yes, as User A I granted User B read only access (can view permission)

Second question: Which level did you choose when you connecting to this data source with user B's credential? I selected the home page of user's A one drive, not the specific folder. In Power Query, I use to connect to User A's one drive home page and then browse to the folder I'm interested in.

Hope I clarified. If not, I'm happy to give you more details.

Thank you for your support.

Hi @fbottazzoli

Thanks for your reply. I basically understand your issue.

User A has a SharePoint site and there are several folders in this site. User A gives user B view permission of one folder. After that, user A connects to this site with user B's credential and only part of files can be seen. Am I right?

May I know whether those files retrieved  in Power BI Desktop are all files under the folder that user B has permission to?

Hi @v-cazheng-msft

you understood perfectly. I can see all the "old" files from the shared folder but, if I add one more file or just copy-paste one of the files in the folder, I cannot see it.
