Issue with Card Visual Layout After November Power BI Desktop Update

Hello,

The November update of Power BI Desktop messed up the metrics and visuals in my new card visual. It happened with the image in the callout, and the reference labels had their layout changed, no longer keeping the spacing I wanted. This is really frustrating because the users who view the report daily (including the bosses) are not getting the metrics they need.

Could you please provide a fix or workaround for this problem?

Thank you for your support.
Just a sample image for your reference.

@TinGibsonsame issue here! Really annoying, it seems like the Reference Labels Layout functionality was added/modified, but with that change the Reference space is now in front of the Callout value. I already tried the following things, without success: - Turned off the Background of the Reference Labels Layout; - Changed that background to Transparent; - Played with the paddings of the Reference Labels as well as the callout value, as well as from the entire card, but no success. I wish I could share schreenshot images in this topic to show, but that is not possible. The issue exists in Power BI Desktop Version: 2.149.911.0 64-bit (november 2025). Before last weekend I did not experience the issue. Last time @mattlee successfully helped to fix an other issue with the New Card visual, hopefully it can come to his attention. Currently we only experience the issue in Power Bi Desktop, but not on the Power BI Service (yet) when publishing.

This is related to Jacinda Eng's blog: Preparing for the General Availability of the new Card visual | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft ...
however the tips of settings to keep existing layout I have already tried and do not work, or are not even there as in the blog's screenshots (f.e. the new Desktop version does not have the Divider option under Reference Label menu, whereas the blog has a screenshot where it does have).

1. Example of how the visual should be and was before the GA:

2. Example of how the visual suddenly appeared after the GA:

3. Example of how the visual behaves with Turned Off Reference Label background transparency of it to 100%:

Also played around with the various paddings, but no success.

It should be like the first link.

Incredibly frustrating. Reference label layout is the biggest frustration. The vertical layout option is missing for reference labels layout along with the spacing option between the callout value and the reference label. Also looks like reference label backgrounds have been turned on where I previously didn't have them enabled. In the old version if you disabled the horizontal border for reference labels, the background would also get grayed out. Now it seems that the background is separate from that and is defaulting to the gray. Even turning off the reference label background is still covering the callout value. Noticed that the layout also changed and I have to go back and re-adjust the columns for the multi-card layout because it defaulted back to 2.

@mattleeHere is my situation and please noted that i did nothing on the report.
Before:
- Icons were small and aligned horizontally to the left of the header text.
- The icon is smaller and fits neatly within the card (The icon was designed to fit seamlessly within the card)
- KPI cards displayed icons, values, and comparison text in a clean, aligned manner.

After:
- Icons are significantly larger and positioned above the header text, making the card taller and disrupting the compact design.
- There is extra padding around the icon and text, causing the card to look stretched and less space-efficient.
- The text alignment is slightly off, and the visual hierarchy is less clear.
FYI I have a hundred of visual cards in multiple reports. Here's a link to an image that you can get the idea for my description: https://1drv.ms/i/c/153381b3018e2141/IQCub1u_Ac4VT4K5ncq36LotAbf1d3GoROGRJP7NDcoQv4A

Just to add my issues to the thread @mattlee :

  • I have a report with 26 of the new card visuals where all the different icons in the cards were replaced by the same random image, enlarged to a point where it change the layout of the card completely.
  • I checked the image option in the formatting pane and it was turned off with no image uploaded. When I turned it on and uploaded an image, it added the image rather than replacing the existing broken one.
  • I then looked at the static resources in the GIT folder and almost all (if not all) of the images linked to cards had disappeared.
  • Lastly, all the conditional formatting measures I had defining the colours of fonts and backgrounds for Reference Labels and Detail disappeared from the cards, being replaced with static colours.
  • GA card visual no longer offers the option to change where the image is located on the card (alignment).
  • Adding an image to GA card visual seems to duplicate the divider line.

I am having an issue with the multi card layout. In powerbi desktop it is fine, but once uploaded to fabric each value is taking up the whole space allowed for the card and a scroll bar appears to scroll down to the other values

The same issues here. it broken my cards when updating today to Nov version. Can we get old version back ? Images get wrongly updates, there are 2 places now to adjust them. Cannot change callout size separately for few measures in one card. Have to rework all that I've done yesterday. Quite frustrating.

Same issue as everyone else, we are approaching the pilot date for our analytics solution and this update broke over 70+ KPI cards across our entire report. Having done extensive troubleshooting they cannot be adjusted to behave similarly to before and the entire project would need to be reworked to accommodate the new card behavior.
