Power BI File Access Issue
Below is the issue:
I have created one Power BI report, the data source for my power bi report is my local excel file. To schedule the data refresh I created one gateway and provided my credentials which I logged into my system.
Source excel file is present in my desktop and I published the power bi report to my workspace.
The data refresh is happening as per the schedule. I changed my excel file location from desktop to D drive, started refreshing the Power Bi report . The refresh was failed and error shows it was failed due to credential’s issue. I crossed verified my credentials and those looks fine.
Scenario1: When my source excel file is present at my desktop and I refreshed the power bi report.
It was completed without any issues. No error shown in below snapshot1.
Scenario2: When the source excel file is not present at my desktop, I tried to refresh my report and it was failed and shows error like below snapshots2,Snapshot3.
As per the my expectation ,the below snapshots should shows Invalid source file path or something like source file not found. But it shows Credentials issue and path for the source above “C:\Users\v-madred\Desktop\Top20HiPo.xlsz” not enabled to update with new location.
FYI:I tried with multiple privacy levels like Public, private ,organizational, none.
Sanpshot1
Snapshot2
Snapshot3:Source File location path is disabled:
Below are the few USECASE’S :
1.Either the error log would be clear like ”Source File Not Found” or.
2.It is showing Credentials issue , if that is the case it will let the users to update to new file location. but that was not happened.
3.For better improvement ,it will be showing the correct error msg as well as it will let the users to update the new file location.
