Google Big Query Data Refresh Timeout

Hi All,

I'm getting a poll timeout error when trying to run a manual or schedueld refresh for importing data from Big Query into PowerBI.

The query takes around 8mins in the big query console when running it. It is a large amount of data (21.5GB).

I have tried changing the query with the suggested timeout commands (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51718344/how-to-set-a-max-run-time-timeout-for-power-query) however this is not working. It is still timing out.

The change source tick box option is not available either.

For refrence I'm using PowerBI desktop v2.81.5831.761 64-bit (May 2020)

PowerBI Pro

Windows 10 Pro

The other tables its refreshing in the report I'm using that live in Big Query are working so I know the connection is fine, seems that the it is just running out of time to import the data.

Any ideas on how I can increase the timeout window for the data refresh?

Thanks,

LS

@sty1ee ,

How many rows are there in your data source? Does the row number exceed 20000?

Hi Jimmy,

Yes it does exceed 20,000 rows. Is there anything I can do to increase the timeout? It worked a few days ago multiple times and now its timing out again.

We also changed the query to be more effective and now its only a 3 - 4minute job when running in the big query console. However still the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
