Hi @SreekanthChalla ,

Do you have build permission for this dataset?
If not, it is not possible to create reports etc. based on this dataset. Please make sure you have enough permissions for it.

Also, what is your license? The error mentions XMLA, which requires you to be at least a PPU user in order to use it.
For more information on what XMLA is and some troubleshooting, please refer to these documents

Hi Selina,

I do have access to the dataset, infact i could able to build views after succefully importing the dataset via 'Get Data ->PowerBi dataset' option, when the required dataset is imported individually.

The issue is seen, if you have combination of multiple datasets from various sources like Azure (ADO boards etc), excel etc and trying to import the powerbi dataset at that time i am seeing this peculiar issue.

Thanks,
Sreekanth

@SreekanthChalla ,

So do you aim to build composite models with multiple data sources?

You can't import multiple dataset from several datasource at same time, if you want to achieve, you need to use direct query connection mode after you have imported one dataset.

We are experiencing a similar problem, only in Power BI services. In Power BI desktop refreshing is no problem, after publishing a manual refresh is also possible but the Power BI dataset gives an error:

Situation:
Composite model with 3 connections:

1 power BI dataset via DirectQuery (which gives the error stated below)

1 Azure SQL connection

Because of the remaining error we can't set a refresh schedule (greyed out).

First time we got this error was september 9th.

Hi @Anonymous,

When following your instruction I'm being forced to use the 'new digital assistant', this is very very frustrating and a waste of my time. Is there a direct link to start a support ticket?

Any news on this? I'm starting to get this error more and more which prevents me from setting refresh schedules and refreshing datasets.
