Direct Query with database name as parameter not working properly

We are using a pbix/pbit report template that is using an Azure SQL (with Microsoft account authentication) source database in dir3ect query mode driven by a parameter (the database name). When we switch the database parameter we are getting incorrect error messages that the tables are not from the same datasource (which they definitely are as they are all connected to the same parameter with the database name):

All tables of the model are in direct query mode.

This is at the moment a showstopper for the rollout of a commercial template with hundreds of users so we would appreciate your urgent response with this. We are happy to provide pbix report for analysis on request.

@karaoan,

I test the scenario as yours in Azure SQL database and on-premises SQL Server, however, I am unable to reproduce this issue when using database parameter.

Could you please share the T-SQL that you use to create the two databases and imported tables here? I will replicate the same databases and tables in my SQL Server. Also we would need to know what relationships you create between the imported tables in Power BI Desktop and if you make other transformations in Query Editor.

Regards,
Lydia
