Direct Query Mode Missing

Since the August 2025 update it appears Direct Query connections cannot be selected when connecting to Dataflow Gen 1 sources.

Any reports that were previously setup using Direct Query return the following error:

"This query contains transformations that can't be used for DirectQuery."

I cannot get any development done as my model will not refresh so I'm attempting to get my version rolled back but it's difficult since we have enterprise deployments.

Same issue, we rolled back to the July 2025 update. This issue also causes models with complex transformations to perform much worse or not at all even when in import mode while using PBI Desktop. The reports continue to work fine if they are published.

Query Folding does not work at all against Gen 1 Dataflows. Surprised there is not a broader discussion about the failure. I hope this not going to take 3 months to find a fix

Hey all, it looks like this issue has been resolved. There was an update in Microsoft Store yesterday that has reinstated Direct Query and Query Folding in Power BI Desktop.
