Desktop - Refresh with Merge is Limiting Results

I have been using a query for the past few months on Power BI Desktop and Service with no issue.

The query merges two tables (i've tried both left/inner and right join and all are affected)

The preview for Inner Join shows 35928 matches out of 35928.

I've refreshed this on the latest release and it is limiting the output of the table to 1000 rows even though the query preview has more results.

Please can you confirm if this is a bug?

This is a known issue of Power BI Desktop July elease, and this issue occurs when viewing data in the Power Query Editor (but not when loading to the model in Power BI Desktop).

Engineering team is working to release new version of July Power BI Desktop.

Thanks for making me aware. Picked up on it a few hours after posting.

Hopefully the fix is pushed tonight as its having quite the impact on a series of dashboards.

Actually, even when loading to the model in Power BI Desktop it will bring only 1000 rows, i.e. once apply changes from Power Query Editor you will get max of 1000 rows inside Power BI Desktop, so this is a major issue as you cannot make any changes and publish them to Power BI Service.

Urgent solution is needed

Hi Eli,

I noticed you can publish and Power BI Service refreshes the correct data source.

Its just the desktop app is unable to load the data correctly which is a nightmare for modelling!

I do agree - need a new version asap. Also a massive point to make is not having prior versions as I cant roll back to last months update.

This issue has been fixed in August version of Power BI Desktop, please update your Desktop and check the issue.
