When an unused column has been removed from a dataflow this causes a huge trickle-down effect. The reports connected to the dataflow then fail to refresh. In my case the column removed was not referenced in the model at all. This should not be an issue if the column is not used or referenced in the model. I'm cleaning up 20 reports this morning because a single column that had null data was removed from the source.
