DAX Editor

I'm not sure this where I should be posting this.  If not here, I'm hoping someone will point me in the right direction.

a couple ideas that could help the Power BI Desktop experience:

1. Why isn't there an editor for DAX that is something like "Advanced Editor" in Power Query.  It would make editing lengthy DAX measures much easier.  (Having to hit <ENTER>  instead of <CTRL><ENTER> would be an improvement on it's own.)

2. It would be nice to have something like daxformatter.com (and powerqueryformatter.com) integrated into Power BI.

I think would greatly improve productivity for myself (and a few people I've mentioned these ideas to).

If I'm missing these features (or other options), I apologize.

Currently, no such editor for dax code. We normally edit it in dax input box. For the need of any feature that is not supported for now, post the idea in Power BI Ideas is a good choice. It’s a place the product group collects suggestions from users to improve this product. Link for Power BI Ideas is Ideas (powerbi.com).

@grantsamborn,

These are great ideas--you can post them at the link below. Also, you can search the Ideas forum to see if these ideas already exist, and add your vote.

Have you used Tabular Editor? It will greatly enhance your experience with Power BI Desktop. There's a free version and a paid version. Some of the features it offers:

  1. DAX editor that allows <ENTER>
  2. DAX formatter
  3. Copy a measure (including its metadata)
  4. Perform mass updates (example: change the display folder for multiple measures)
  5. View relationships (ability to filter on a table and get relationship counts)
  6. Create calculation groups
  7. Perform find/replace in measures (example: change a column name in multiple measures)

Thanks - I knew there would be a better place to post this somewhere else.  I'll take a look at that board.

Regarding Tabular Editor...  I use it occasionally but was thinking it would be nice to have those features IN Power BI.

Thanks again,

Grant
