Custom Visual Timeline from Content Pack Report not enabled in a Copy of the Report

When a user creates a copy of a report that has an embedded custom visual timeline, it does not always get enabled in the copied report.   That is, if the user does not initially open the content pack report before opening the copied report, the visual remains empty and no filter is applied.  However, if the user opens the content pack report with the visualization first, then they can open their copy of the report and  the custom visual displays and works correctly.

Is there somethng I can do to ensure that these copied reports open with the custom visual display without having to open the content pack version of the report first?

I just tried according to your description but cannot repro the same issue as you. Could you please take a look at following video to see if there is any difference between our repro steps?
