Changed data source - Only the replacing measures\dimensions not work

Hello,

We have this thing going on with our client, that they had one data cube already in place and we used that for building Power BI reports and dashboards. But now client is developing a new tabular cube, which is going to replace the old one - no problem there.

When I directly change the source from Power BI Desktop report view, it will show error for all of the charts and filters. That I know why it is happening, because the measures and dimensions are on the different structures on the new cube and may even have a new name so Power BI can't just map itself them to use.

But, when I modify the charts and filters that I have already on my report and just replace the old <!> columns\measures with these new ones - I see the new values and the chart is showing them. But when I try to filter some data for example from the filter panel - it will result an error and the error just says that "Can't display the visual. See details." On the details: "No OLE DB Error information found".

Then the odd part, if I recreate the chart and filter from a scratch and do the same filtering - it works just fine. No error, no anything. So I need now to recreate the whole report that we have done, instead of replacing the measures and dimensions that have changed or moved on the new cube.

Well actually now when I added more than one filter, the problem remains there also ... odd.

Cheers,

Niko

Resolver I

Hello @v-qiuyu-msft,

I have the version Version: 2.48.4792.721 64-bit (July 2017) in use at the moment.

And something that I tested today also:

- Published the report to Power BI service, which had now errors on every chart\filter - it is working just fine on the service side.

- This is really not good way to work, because now I can't really make any chances to the report visuals or filters because I only see errors on Power BI desktop.

- I can change the visuals to others on the report and they seem to work then - but when I go back to the visual that was having error, it shows error still.

- When making a fresh report to same connection, it works just fine.

- When creating new graphs, they work a while but when saving and coming back - it won't anymore.

Cheers,

Niko
