BI Pro License is no longer recognized in Business Central

This morning my Power BI report in Business Central shows error message "You do not have a Power BI account. If you have just activated a license, it might take several minutes for the changes to be effective in Power BI."

I tried access through the app.powerbi.com and able to run the report as normal.

Any assumption or solution to solve this issue?

Thank you.

Hi all,

Based on the above information, It's a reproducible issue. Due to the new reply policy, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket.

If you are a Power BI Pro or Fabric licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.
It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

I am also having this issue. Yesterday it was working fine and I managed to set up (and view and run) all the new Apps from 25.1. Today it doesn't work at all and tells me I don't have a license when I try to access them through BC. When I access them through app.powerbi.com all is well and my license is absolutely fine.

I’m currently facing the same issue with Power BI integration in Business Central. The problem started without any recent configuration changes on our end. Below are the details: Initial Error: A call to Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.PowerBIEmbedded.PowerBiRestServiceWrapper.UpdateDatasetParameters failed with this message: Operation returned an invalid status code 'NotFound' After encountering this, I tried resetting all reports for all users, but the issue persists with a new error: Current Error: You do not have a Power BI account. If you have just activated a license, it might take several minutes for the changes to be effective in Power BI. Observations: When clicking the "Go to Power BI home page," it redirects me to the following link instead of automatically logging me in: https://www.microsoft.com/nb-no/power-platform/products/power-bi/?market=no After manually logging in, I can access the Power BI workspace, and everything looks normal. However, Business Central still fails to recognize the Power BI account or license, which prevents us from embedding and updating reports as needed. I would appreciate your help investigating the issue further. Please let me know if you require any additional information, including error logs or session details.

Hi Caitlyn, Thank you for your response and recommendation to open a support ticket. Unfortunately, I do not have a Power BI Pro or Fabric Pro license, so I am unable to create a ticket as suggested. To help resolve this issue, I have also posted the details in the Dynamics 365 Community - Small and Medium Business (Business Central, NAV, RMS) section to seek input from others facing similar problems. I’ve noticed that several other users have reported the same issue there over the past few days, which suggests this could be a broader problem. Since this is a reproducible issue, I would appreciate any guidance on available workarounds or alternative support options that don’t require a Pro license. If escalation through another channel is possible, I’d be happy to follow that route as well. Thank you for your help, and I will continue to share updates if I find any solutions.

We're also having the exact same issue. I have a Power BI Pro license so I've created a ticket.

D365 BC does not load the report anymore. Apparently, each user needs a Power BI Pro License to see the report in D365 BC dashboard. More here: https://community.dynamics.com/forums/thread/details/?threadid=1654d3d7-c5e2-ef11-a730-000d3a108096 Since each user is M365 user with free Power BI License, I had to choose the alternative. I have added the pbix report to each user's Power BI workspace. Now, users access the reports from Power BI itself.

Hi Dave, thanks for sharing your experience. Do you mean that there’s been a recent change in license requirements for using Power BI reports within D365 BC, or has it always been like this? The whole licensing setup feels like a jungle, and it’s hard to get clarity. In my case, the error message in BC says: "You do not have a Power BI account." So, it’s a bit confusing whether the connection is actually broken or if the "account" mentioned refers to the license. 🤔 From what I’ve understood, Power BI reports embedded within D365 BC should be accessible without needing extra licenses, especially for users with the free Power BI license included with M365. But now, it seems like each user actually needs a Pro license? Could this be a recent change, or am I just misunderstanding how it works? Any insights would be appreciated!

Hi, I'm not sure either, what changed. A user with Free Power BI license could access embedded Power BI report from D365 BC. But, as you said, and what I think too, is that now, it seems like each user actually needs a Pro license. I can ask paid support to find the correct answer, or I can wait and see. If you get the error message "You do not have a Power BI account" then you check first from the M365 admin portal if the free Power BI License has already been assigned to the M365 user or not. Even though it is free License, it may remain unchecked. In my case, the M365 user has already been assigned the Free Power BI License. So, I opened Power BI online of the user and imported the PBIX file from "My Workspace" -> Import -> Report or Paginated Report -> From This Computer.

Hi kmaniland, Thanks for the update. It looks like the problem is a platform issue and not license issue.
