Subscription external email

Hi, everyone

I have tested in my organization, It seems suscription can only be applied to users with same domain account.

Is there any way that an external account can subscribe to a report or dashboard?

Coming in late on this but the solution is:

name__externaldomain.com#EXT#@ internaldomain. com

e.g.

If you (Larry @Gmail.com) wanted to share your report with bob @yahoo.com

Bob_yahoo.com#EXT#@gmail.com  - - would go into the email section.

Unfortunately, that suggestion doesnt work for me 😞 

Our externa email addresses look like this:  name.lastname_domain.com#EXT#@today.onmicrosoft.com

PowerBI does not accept that as a valid email address.

You can just put in their email address as per your example as name.lastname@domain.com

Hmmm although it does let me enter these email addresses, when I press save, it doesn't actually save anything. I think they just haven't built the error messaging around this yet. Does this really work for you?

Yes it certainly works for me.

Do you perhaps have RLS enabled on the underlying dataset?

And also can you share externally via the Admin Tenant settings?

Thanks for your response again!

I regularly share my reports with external users, and that Admin Tenant setting is set to "on". It's just the subscribing that does not work.

The file does not use any RLS.

I'm lost 😞

Currently as far as I am aware you cannot subscribe external email addresses.

I know, that's what I knew, but then someone in this thread said they got it to work anyway, and then I replied that I couldn't get it to work using his method. I think you and I were not understanding each other 😛

A workaround is to create a forwarding "Rule" in Outlook or Gmail.

From: Microsoft Power BI
To: Only You
Subject: Your Subject
