56109 TopicsFailure while trying to import pbix or clone report
We have a workspace with about 500 reports in it. No other items. These reports are all connected to models in another workspaces We recently started getting this error when trying to import a new pbix file OR if cloning from another workspace into this workspace. We get no error if we create a new report in this workspace via PBI service connected to the same models as the other reports. The error received was: ServerError_ResourceLimitsPackageCountExceeded Research indicates that the above error is due to a max 1000 items per workspace constraint. However we only have about 500 reports and no other artifacts. Many reports were imported via PBIX files so there are about 500 import records (some of them tied to existing reports and some seemingly orphaned) which we have seen via the get imports API. But the imports themselves do not show in the workspace and we don't know if they even count towards the limit - and have no way to remove them. There is nothing in the recycle bin. We are completely blocked with this. Any suggestions or ideas?117Views0likes7CommentsPower BI Reports Data Monitoring Dashboard for 10 Power BI Reports(in diff workspaces)
Hello, I need to create a Health Dashboard for existing 10 Power BI Reports(exists in different workspaces), All the workspaces are of Fabric Capacity. I need to track Refresh history of all reports, if refresh happened, but tables not loaded Which reports and KPIs are impacted if one backend table fails or data load issues. Goal is to proactively inform stakeholders before report failures that these KPIs are not correct as we don't have fresh data. DE team will keep Power BI refresh history in GCP tables(using power bi Rest APIs). How to track measure to backend table lineage? Any inputs will be helpfull.75Views2likes4CommentsDisplay personal bookmarks as a list on the report canvas
I want report viewers to create their own personal bookmarks and access them through a clickable list directly on the report canvas, instead of using the Bookmarks pane. The built-in bookmark navigator only supports report bookmarks, which viewers cannot create. Is there a way to display each user’s personal bookmarks within the report canvas, perhaps through a custom visual or another workaround?84Views2likes8CommentsPower BI Service – Report Exceeds Query Memory Limit
Power BI Service – Report Exceeds Query Memory Limit When Using Month Option in Date Preset Filter Hi Community, I am encountering a query memory limit issue in Power BI Service with a report published to our production environment. I would appreciate your guidance on identifying the root cause and the best way to resolve it. Environment Platform: Power BI Service License: Power BI Pro Issue: Resource Exceeded / Query Memory Limit Issue Description When I select the Month Option Date Preset filter in the Report, some KPI cards and visuals fail to load and display the following error: "Resource Governing: This query uses more memory than the configured limit." The error details show: Consumed memory: 1,552 MB Memory limit: 1,331 MB The issue occurs in Power BI Service after publishing the report. The report page contains multiple visuals displaying agent status metrics, routing statuses, queue status, and agent status duration. Questions I would like to understand the following: Is this error expected under Power BI Pro/shared capacity, and would moving the workspace to an appropriate Microsoft Fabric capacity resolve it? How can I identify the specific visual, DAX measure, or underlying query that is exceeding the memory limit? What additional troubleshooting steps would you recommend if simplifying the DAX calculations does not resolve the issue? Can the per-query memory limit be increased, or is moving to a different capacity SKU necessary? Is there a way to reproduce the Power BI Service query memory limit in Power BI Desktop before publishing? I would prefer to identify the root cause and optimize the report before recommending a capacity upgrade. I have attached screenshots of th e error message and the affected report page for reference. Any suggestions or guidance from the community experts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!53Views0likes2CommentsNew refresh error on large model
We have a very large import model (24GB) which has intermittently failed to refresh due to throttling/memory issues. After some improvements made last week, we've had no failures until this morning. This morning we had a brand new error, and I can't seem to find any results for it on Google that are related to Power BI: Data source error: Invalid attempt to call CheckDataIsReady when reader is closed.. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error message and provider documentation for further information and corrective action. This error occurred once after 25 minutes, followed by another error (Data source error: ExecuteReader requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface.) after a few seconds, and then the same new error occurred twice more after 23 and 46 minutes: I did kick off another refresh which completed in 1.5 hours, which is typical for this model, so now I'm just wondering if others have had this issue and if so, how to avoid it in the future. Some more info: We have several other data models using the same source (Azure Synapse Analytics) which refreshed around the same time with no issues, including one that ran for 35 minutes without throwing this error. This data model originated as a tabular model so is not a typical Power BI model, but so is the one that completed after 35 minutes. Our data models are on a Fabric F256 Capacity.21Views0likes2Comments[DataSource.Error] Credentials are required to decrypt this workbook
Hi all, I got this error while trying to open an Excel workbook in Company SharePoint. The file isn't password-protected, there are no sensitivity labels. Not sure if it has anything to do with Purview encryption but that seems unlikely. The solution proposed in this thread didn't work for me. Haven't found any other solutions in the forums. Any other solution to try ? Thanks in advanceSolved140Views0likes10CommentsSubscriptions now coming "from" subscription owner
According to this article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-troubleshoot-subscribe Microsoft has made the unilateral decision (and apparently without a proactive announcement) to have email subscriptions come from the creator/owner of the subscription instead of a generic Power BI email address, if the creator/owner uses Exchange Online. This is causing all kinds of headaches in my organization, because I personally set up many subscriptions on behalf of others, and now not only are they being received with a different sender, all of the individual emails are showing up in my Sent Items folder. The emails also now bypass out email security systems that all external emails go through. Has anybody figured out a way to reverse the changes or otherwise perform a workaround (setting the owner of a subscription to a generic or service user, etc.) ? Hi all, I get an error when refreshing a Direct Lake semantic model in the Fabric web UI, and I'm trying to find out whether this is a known issue. Setup Semantic model in Direct Lake mode, built on the SQL analytics endpoint of a lakehouse (Direct Lake on SQL, not Direct Lake on OneLake). We deliberately use the SQL endpoint because we deploy with Fabric Deployment Pipelines, and deployment rules for the data source work for SQL endpoint-based models but not for OneLake-based ones. So switching to Direct Lake on OneLake isn't an option for us. Error (when clicking Refresh in the web modeling editor, dialog "Processing queries and validating semantic model"): What I've observed Edit in Desktop → Refresh works fine (both schema and data). In the Fabric UI, refreshing data only works. The error only appears on the full refresh (schema + data). Even after the error, reports on the model show correct, up-to-date data. The SQL endpoint is healthy: queries work both in the Fabric UI and in SSMS. Earlier, Desktop also failed with a 400 Bad Request because the model's expression referenced the lakehouse by name instead of the SQL endpoint GUID. After changing to the GUID, Desktop works, but the web UI error remains. Questions Is this a known issue with schema refresh for Direct Lake on SQL models in web modeling? Is there a workaround, or is it safe to ignore since data refresh and reports work? Thanks for any input!200Views1like11CommentsConditions for displaying “Check out a report frequently opened by your colleagues” in Teams
Hello, I would like to understand the conditions under which the following notification is displayed in the Teams Activity feed: “Check out a report frequently opened by your colleagues” We use Power BI reports embedded in SharePoint. The reports are shared with a broad group of users, while data access is restricted to specific business users by using Row-Level Security (RLS). However, users who are not responsible for the business process received this notification in Teams Activity. Could you please clarify the following? 1. What conditions trigger this notification, and how is “frequently opened” determined? 2. We understand that Power BI–Teams integration can be disabled at the tenant level. Can it also be disabled for individual workspaces? 3. If not, is there a way to disable only this notification for individual workspaces? Thank you.81Views0likes5Comments
