Shared Semantic Models Do Not Appear in Workspace for Viewers

Hi Folks,

Small little issue hopefully. But I have a scenario where I want to share particular semantic models with stakeholders but at a workspace level, have them retain viewers access. When I share the semantic model directly with them, they're able to see the semantic model page. They're also able to query the semantic model through tools like SSMS and connect through Power BI. However, if they're viewing the workspace, they're not able to see the semantic model.

Was wondering if there was a way to show semantic models for people with Viewers access who have had particular semantic models shared with them?

Thanks!

Hi @dritsche

If you want other users connect the semantic model in their Power BI Desktop , you can share the semantic model in Power BI Service . You can assign Build permission to specific users or security groups on the Manage permissions page. Then they can create their own content based on your semantic model. This way even if they are a viewer in your workspace, they can create content using the semantic model you share.

@Anonymous thanks for your response. My issue is that when I share a specific semantic model with an individual AND they're a viewer of the broader workspace, that semantic model does not show up as an option for them within the workspace. Hope that helps clarify!
