Support SQL Server Geometry/Geography data types in Power BI

The ability to display and create Filled Maps (choropleth) using the native SQL Server geometry/geography data types is a must to allow for meaningful geospatial visualization. e.g. Visualize crimes by police beat.

Amazing that Microsoft makes a product for storing data and a product for displaying data, yet the two do not understand each others data types! The Geography type works, but PowerBI confuses Lattitude/Longitude so your map is all over the place...

Has this been implemented and if so where can we view this data?

I also support native direct display of geometry and geography types selected by query etc. from a db. It seems very odd that it is not possible to easily display MS SQL Server spatial objects with a MS data visualisation tool. I'm not expecting full GIS capabilities (line, points and polygons display control is a must), but it should be possible to in-house publish private company data without have to export and convert via third party tools. The ESRI plugin may not be appropriate for data licence/protection either.

Absolutely required. Strange that power bi cant handle major datatypes that sql server supports like goemetry and geography
