Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

Right now, If I use PowerBI desktop to create a dataset, report and dashboard. I am not able to share it with a standard user. This effectively means that we have to either licence everyone as a pro (very expensive for 4k people), or not use the pro features at all (which isn't what we want). Pro users should be able to build and schedule the PowerBI, and then be able to share with any company user using AD security groups. Without these options the tool may not be a viable option...

yeah, i'm still confused as to the licensing of Power BI 2.0. I own Office 365 and Power BI for Office 365 and some of my users come up as Pro Trial.

Agreed, in order to make this a viable option that we want to promote to our customer base, we need the ability to publish content into our clients accounts/groups. This would require having the ability to publish content outside of our own domain.

We have the same issue. We need a Pro Account to have a scheduled refresh and that means any viewers of the report also need to be Pro. Again for large organisations this cost is unacceptable and will kill the current project and will also turn off large companies interested in using Power BI.

A critical point to even considder using this solution. We can't use Power BI if the only option to share Dashboards is between pro users.

Agreed as well, I am not seeing any value in the product if I have to license all users as pro, like many organizations, information is shared from few to many, and for things like KPIs the cost is not feasible at $10/head

Consuming "Pro" content without paying the Pro license for dozens or even hundreds of users is absolutely crucial for adoption! At least there should be a less expensive Power BI Pro "read-only" license

I've spent a day setting up a dashboard, installing refresh agents and scheduling refreshes just to find out that every single person who will glance at the static data (from their perspective) needs to be on a Pro account. This defies the whole purpose of why I was doing this. I guess it's back to Excel as our BI tool. At least you can share Excel files for free. Sigh.

The whole office 365 platform is build on collaboration and being about to share. This needs to be consistent with Power BI Pro license not having the ability to share insightful reporting through an organization completely defeats the whole purpose of Business Intelligence and establishing a data drive culture. You got an outstanding product but this will be deal breaker for small and large companies.

I agree with the comments here. If SSAS is your enterprise reporting data source, it is basically useless with this pricing model. I can see limiting what data sources can be used by report designers but I don't understand limiting report viewing by data source. You should not require users to pay for a full Pro license to simply view a report. If not free, at the very least there should be a much cheaper Pro viewing tier. Currently if your company has 1,000 employees, Power BI would cost nearly $120,000 per year for everyone to simply view a dashboard based on SSAS. Considering some of the significant feature gaps in Power BI currently vs. the competition that is a bit outrageous. Whatever MS decides to do on this, the Admin should change the status because they do not seem to be addressing the actual feature request.
