Epic idea: Hide, show, expand, and collapse tabular columns

It would be beneficial to incorporate features from Pivot tables that allow for the expansion and collapse of columns and hierarchical column groups within tabular visuals. This would not only solve the current limitations of matrices but also provide report creators with the flexibility to hide and show rows and columns, saving these settings for future use, thus eliminating the need to scroll through irrelevant data.

It blows my mind that this hasn't been implemented yet. It should be considered baseline functionality for a Matrix visualization.

Just like the total row stays fixed in "Compact" mode, allow the total column to be frozen as well. This column should remain visible either: pinned to the right end of the visual, or placed right next to the row labels. Additionally, enable this functionality not only in "Compact" mode but also in other layout options. This will keep row totals visible even when individual columns scroll out of view.

It is not specifically mentioned anywhere, so I add it here. Sometimes it is called "Table and Matrix visual in one". It would be very useful, if one could add a measure in Matrix chart in the "Columns" section, meaning that it would not be split to Category columns. For example. I'd like to be able to show two measures in Matrix chart. "Current stock quantity" I want to see only in one "Column", while historic "Sold quantity" I'd want to split in years, like in regular Pivot/Matrix table ("Year" in the Category column split). It could work by either allowing measure to be dropped in Columns section, or there could be separate input group for measures to be not expaned with Category in Columns section. Just a related note, at the moment I sometimes use Matrix visual without Column category instead of Table chart only because it is "freezing" the columns. The visuals do not need to be separate.

Hi Team,

Please provide the Columns Level Colapse and expand on columns Level also so that we can Expand & Collapse on Column level information like Example

we have 2015,2014 we can expand as per need in columns level.

why is this still not implemented yet? this is very beneficial to have collapse/expand option in matrix table when we wanted to show categorical column headers.

expand/collapse (+/-) grouping feature like in Excel, which allows users to group columns and expand/collapse them for better navigation and data summarization.

Vertical expand/collapse in a matrix visual would be extremely useful creating visuals desired by data consumers, especially executive management decision makers.

Agreed! A multi-card container with more customization would save time and make dashboards much cleaner
