Enable setting a fix width of each column in a matrix

It is needed to be able to resize a column for all occurrences in a matrix. That is, not by dragging the size for each and every column value, but with setting a specific pt length in the visualization setup.

If the column values change, etc depending on a slicer selection, all resizing of columns stop working and the initial sizing of the column takes over. Therefore it needs to be possible to change the "initial size" of each column.

This is for example needed in cases where column titles are much wider that what the data values actually need - causing the column width to be set according to the title length(when it would be better to wrap the titles to two-three lines). Therefore the matrices look bad if it is not possible to size the columns according to plan.

Hi,

It would be awesome if Power Bi could provide users the ability to resize their columns in a matrix to a fixed width size of their choice rather than just relying on the existing auto width option. This feature will allow the reports to look much neater and visually appealing as it will allow us to resize all the columns to have equal column widths.

Thanks

This request has been active since 2021. We need this feature to present the data how the consumer wants it. Despite all the workarounds and additional efforts, a refresh of the data destroys the configuration.

It is so easy to fix the column width in Excel. Why can't we do the same in Power BI?

Appreciate a fix for this, as we are upgrading many visuals with Field Parameter.

Please add this. It's amazing such a simple feature is not available.

When will we be able to set the width of table/matrix columns? It’s crazy to use an alternate solution like adding letters (WWWWWWW) to achieve the desired size and then toggling the auto-width option on and off. It’s even more frustrating when building a multi-language report (e.g. 15 languages) with a field parameter as a column to translate the data. Try it (hint below), and you’ll see how impractical it is. Please deliver this feature as soon as possible. Thanks.

Hint: Update field parameter values with letters (WWWWW), display the data in each different language with the auto-width option on, turn off auto-width, go through each different language in the visual to verify, and finally go through each language again after updating the field parameter with the correct values.

I would like the ability to automatically set all column widths to the same size within matrices or tables. This function is available within Excel and I would love to see that same functionality in PowerBI. From a reporting and visualization perspective, column width uniformity goes a long way in presenting a professional-looking report.

The matrix visual does not have the ability to set a fixed pixel width for all columns. It should be possible to fix the column widths in the matrix tabular table at any value, uniformly, regardless of the data that is reported and newly added to the report.

Just like in Excel, having the functionality to be able to adjust all your columns to either the same width, or any custom widths would be amazing and greatly improve the efficiency during report building process. Having to manually adjust and guess/eyeball each column is honestly a pain every time. Thank you!
