Hi
I am wondering if anyone can help? I think I have asked before but I am trying to look at the storage in Power BI Service. I know that you can look in each workspace (as per this message thread - https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/storage-used-in-POWER-BI-SERVICE/m-p/755470)
As you can see it says 0mb used but clearly there are a number of reports etc using space - so it does not seem to be recording the storage correctly -
I tried using the metrics app - but it is not recording anything but 2 workspaces and I have removed the top5 workspaces filter
I have asked this before in this thread - https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/Power-BI-Report-Dataset-Sizes-for-All-reports/m-p/... and it was mentioned about using APIs - but I was unsure which to use and unfortunately (as per the thread)
.
Is there anyone who can help with this.
Thanks
Karen
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi @KarenL7 - You might not have the necessary permissions to access storage metrics. Make sure you are a Power BI Service Administrator or have been granted the required rights.
The feature might not be properly enabled for your organization. Check with your Global Admin or Microsoft support.
alternatively, you can see the details using API too. like Postman or integrate APIs into a script (Python or PowerShell).

@rajendraongole1 Thank you once again for all your help with this - I will need to consult with my colleague who is also an admin and we can go through the settings - apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
We will investigate all of this further which will take time. I will take your suggestion as a solution as there is nothing else we can do for the moment - thank you so much for your help with this

Hi @KarenL7 - it seems like the Power BI Service is not displaying storage usage accurately for your workspaces. This can happen due to several reasons, such as incorrect configurations, limitations in the metrics app, or issues with the Power BI Service UI.
Verify the Settings → Workspace Settings → Capacity settings to ensure the storage consumption is being tracked under the correct capacity.
Open the Admin Portal in Power BI Service.
Navigate to Capacity Settings > Storage.
Check the "Storage Metrics" for each workspace. This view should provide a detailed breakdown of storage usage.
If you are using Premium Capacity:
Enable the Premium Metrics App.
Check the "Storage" tab to get a detailed breakdown of storage usage.
Hope this details helps.

Hi @rajendraongole1 Thank you for such a detailed reply.
This all makes a lot of sense the the storage is not being tracked properly etc.
However, I checked the admin Portal - went to Capacity Settings - But "Storage" is simply not available and so I am unable to see any breakdown for storage for each workspace. Here is a screenshot of the menu that it is available -
The other part only shows the Premium capacity
I have used the Premium App but It only shows 2 workspaces - probably as it is not tracking the storage correctly.
Thanks for your help though I will keep investgating
