scatter plot doesn't understand time ?

Currently (Nov '16) scatter plot does not accept time (date/time not just date) as a valid axis (line plot does!) - is there a reason why ? This is basic functionality for any time series visualisation of sampled data where you don't want to draw lines where data is missing.

The ability to scatter plot times series data is a must. Yes, it can be done in R, but it should be something available out of the box with a Power BI standard visual.

This is definitely a basic functionality we expect from a scatter plot. Many other visualization tools available on the market offer it as a standard visual. Hope you'll be proposing it soon too...

I have the same problem which I thought was trivial but wasted days trying to plot it properly to no avail. I also tried the line chart with markers but that requires the x-axis to be categorical as opposed to continuous which is basically the same issue I arrived at with scatter chart. Also another post on same request: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/18791959-allow-for-time-series-data-to-be-displayed-on-a-sc

I've found this to be an issue too. I have reverted to using a Line Chart and setting the line-width to zero and clicking "show markers". However it would useful to choose between Continuous and Categorical on the x-axis directly on the scatterplot.

This is absolutely necessary and such a basic feature that is missing!
