Tags which enable searching across workspaces - add to the main page filter options

We would like to be able to use tags applied across multiple reports in multiple workspaces as a search function. For example , maybe a user would like to see what has already been developed for "OTIF" reporting. We currently have Global Supply Chain and Regional Supply Chain workspaces where this type of content could be found, it would be a good way to browse what is already existing.

The functionality should be similar to the Filter option in the workspace where you can select a tag to narrow your search.

This option should be in the main page filter options, currently we only see "Type" and "Owner". Thank you!

Hi @CatSmith , what is the "main page"? are you referring to Fabric's home page?

Hello! Yes, the landing page for Power BI. Here you can use the search option in the top bar to look for workspaces, semantic models or reports. It would be good if that search option was extended to return tags also, this way you could browse what is already created without knowing the names of the reports.

Note that you can already search for tags in the top bar of PBI's service. Simply type a tag's name and you can search across all workspaces to find it:

On top of that, you can filter items across workspaces by tags in the OneLake Catalog.

Is that what you mean, or is filtering by tag in the recent items list at the bottom of the home page?

So if I have a tag "Sales" assigned to a report which does not have this word in the title, searching for "sales" does not return this as one of the results. I can filter my search results by Type: App, Semantic Model, Workspace or by Owner. There is no option to filter the results by report name or by Tag. I am a Fabric Admin in my organisation, so I don't think it is a permissions issue. Could there maybe be a setting somewhere which is not enabled..?

Hi @CatSmith , while you can't filter by tags (we should add definetly this at some point), searching for "Sales" should indeed return the report tagged with the "Sales" tag. Here's an example:

Good morning! Ah yes, I understand - thank you for the example! This does seem to work, indeed it returns the tagged item lower down in the list than those items which have that word in the report name or workspace name so it can still require some searching to find what you are looking for (but I think that's mainly because we have a huge number of reports!!) Adding the option to filter by the tag would be great - thank you!!
