Snap to Grid and Visual Sizing Increments Customizable and Tied Together

Sizing visuals and getting consistent white spaces takes time in Power BI Desktop. Let's make it easier for every one!

Allow a Custom Grid size that is also tied to Custom Sizing for visuals.

At the Report Page level, provide an option for a Custom Grid size in pixels. Within the Snap to Grid customization allow the Visuals to be tied to the grid size.

  • If I set my grid size to 5px, then I can only move visuals up/down or left/right on 5 px intervals using drag
  • If I turn on Visual Snap to Grid, then I can only resize my visuals in increments of 5 px using the visual control handles.
  • If I want something other than the grid, I can still manual enter the values in the formatting pane.

As an added capability, give options to turn on Show Visual Sizes & Show Visual Spacing. These would turn on a button or menu option. When selected, the visuals get an overlay with the height/width of each visual and the spacing between the nearest visuals plus canvas borders horizontally and vertically.

+1 to this idea. When I transitioned from a Tableau to Power BI, this was one of the first things I missed from Tableau.
