SQL Data import maximum text length

When importing a plain sql server table, text columns are limited to 32767 characters max. Documentation implies the maximum is al lot bigger https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-data-types/#text-type How come my data is limited, is this an import issue?
