Power BI Lite License

Power BI should have a Lite License for people that only consume dashboards or reports every now and then. This is for people that don't create reports but need to see the dashboards and may need to use the "report level" to be able to export output to PowerPoint (since you can't export the dashboard to PowerPoint but can only do it at Report level).

As a business owner buying into, contributing to and selling Power BI to customers as a small BI Specialist company we're VERY diappointed with the recent changes wrt embedding Power BI..!! Developing a Power BI analytics capability with the ability for a small customer to embed this ability into their web-app and "pay as you use" based on tokens was what we "sold" to our SME customers. Even with the reduced Power BI premium entry level most of our customers is sitting dry and our image is seriously damaged having "sold" what we thought to be the differentiator between Power BI and other competitors in market!! Seriously hoping and trusting the Power BI team will re assess what they have done! Otherwise we will have to manage damage and change our staratagy away from Power BI! With this much votes (in fact, being the top voted idea), there should have been a progress on this. Still no change in status. 😞

I agree that no license should be needed to consume a report/dashboard.

I currently have 3 clients in the incubation phase with Power BI Embedded proofs-of-concept. While the potential upside for wider adoption is quite good in all cases, the $625/month entry point of is too high for these clients in exploratory phases. I respectfully suggest an intermediate tier or two would allow for broader adoption.

I too want to express my dissappointment about this recent change. After having invested quite some resources migrating to PowerBI Embedded that follows the Azure pay-as-you-go model that we came accustomed too, suddenly and with NO warning, we have pay at least 30 times more for a fixed minimum entrance fee. Where is the Azure 'scale as you grow' idea behind THAT? I have been defending our decision for the Azure eco-system against others' warnings of 'vendor lock-in' as a thing of the past for Microsoft, but with this decision you guys proved me wrong. I can only hope this is just an ill-communicated, not well thought-through decision that you guys will revisit before terminating the PowerBI Embedded service in 2018. In the mean time we will be looking for alternative solutions.

Wondering if there has been any response/feedback from MS BI team on this request/suggestion about pricing?

We need a way to start small and grow as needed. A minimum of $650 a month is not accessible to anyone trying to start small and grow.

I am willing to get the Power BI Pro license, but I need to be able to post the dashboards I create in my organization's SharePoint. All they need is a way to view and interact with the dashboard. Not having this capability is delaying my decision to work with Power BI. When is Microsoft going to develop a Power BI viewer for non Power BI end users?

When will we finally have any information about this?
