Org App enhancements

I like the idea of Org Apps, but the functionality is very limited at the moment.

Bookmarks - The Org App should allow users to create personal bookmarks, view all bookmarks, etc... Essentially, it should all the same bookmark functionality that exists in Power BI reports today. This is key functionality for delivering reports to users.

Permissions - Right now it appears that permissions are provisioned for the report and the data source, but not all. We have a scenario where we are trying to use Direct Lake mode. Our semantic model also includes a view on the Direct Lake, permissions do not appear to be granted through the Org App for the view that uses the Delta table(s). Org App permission provisioning should handle this automatically.

Have option for hide Fabric UI - One thing we really like about workspace apps is that it only shows the app full screen, it does not show the Fabric left hand navigation. Many of our users are report consumers and since Fabric does not have enough fine grained control over what we show to people, I would like the ability to hide that left hand navigation pane in the Org App

Expand objects in an Org App - I would like to see paginated reports as an object that we can add to an Org App. I could see use cases for metric sets, dashboards, as well as goals as well.

  • These would be great additions to the value of Org Apps. @Microsoft - is there a possibility these will be included by GA?

  • Here are features from the workspace app I see missing or behaving differently in the Org App. I'd like to see this come to org apps as well.

    • subscriptions
    • PowerPoint integration
    • the org app doesn't appear on the home page under "My Apps".

    Thank you, development team!

I have not heard anything about this topic of enhancing the Org App feature. Please Fabric team, can we get an update on where you are at with this one? Without functionality like Bookmarks we can't use it. But the Og Apps seems like a great idea as it is much better in gathering reports and creating a good look and feel.
  • Any updates on this Fabric team? We also really need the bookmark functionality in org apps.
  • One up the vote on hiding the Fabric Left Navigation for Org Apps. Business users using an Org App absolutely do not need to click on many of the Fabric left nav items, such as "deployment pipelines" or "workspaces" or "workloads". These are irrelevant left nav menu items for most report consumers.
